FG Inaugurates Multi-purpose Sports Complex In Anambra
The Federal Government has inaugurated a multi-purpose outdoor sports complex at Eziowelle Community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The facility comprises six sporting activities, including tennis, basketball, badminton, volleyball, handball and five-a-side football was built in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu for youth empowerment, healthy recreation and community development.
It has restrooms and a changing room building and was constructed as part of the Chief of the Naval Staff Special Intervention Quick Impact Project initiative, and in honour of Rear Admiral Emmanuel Anakwe of the Eziowelle Community.
The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Special Intervention Quick Impact Project (CNS-QIP) is a nationwide Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) initiative launched to execute community development projects and honour distinguished senior naval officers.
The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, represented by the Chief of Communications and Information Technology, Rear Admiral Semiu Adepegba, said the project would help reduce youth restiveness and other social vices while improving the people's quality of life.
In a remark, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who was represented by the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Mr Patrick Agha-Mba, described the project as a shining example of public-private-community partnership.
He urged the people to embrace the āthink homeā philosophy and invest in community development, adding that sports remain a powerful tool for engaging youths and discovering talents.
Earlier, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Anakwe said the arena was built to nurture talents, promote unity and strengthen the social fabric of Idemili North.
Some residents of Eziowelle, including Chief Hyacinth Omeludike, commended the Nigerian Navy for the initiative which they said would engage the youths and contribute towards the discovery of budding talents in the area.
The event was attended by government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, representatives of the Nigerian Army, 302, Onitsha, and officers of the Nigerian Navy.
